Uta von Ballenstedt was a prominent noblewoman in medieval Germany, best known for being the wife of Eckard II, Margrave of Meissen. She lived during the 11th century and was renowned for her patronage of the arts, particularly in the region of Thuringia. Uta is also famously depicted in the Naumburg Cathedral as one of the donors in the renowned "Founder's Window," which portrays her alongside her husband and other figures.

The statue is also rumored to have inspired the evil queen in Disney's 1937 Snow White and the Seven dwarfs.
