These antique French ceramic advertising match strikes are hard to come by! 

These advertising match strikes were given to bistros, restaurants and cafes to promote the brand of the company, and were often used for the preparation of absinthe.

A stunning piece with gorgeous period typography, and a unique history.

Once used to hold matches and light them on the ridges, they can still be used for this purpose with “strike anywhere” matches; or use as a jewelry holder, for a candle, or simply as a decorative piece on its own.

Sourced from a brocante in Aix-en-Provence.

Please note the minor chip on base as pictured, that does not affect the overall integrity of the piece.
