We found this antique engraving of Tübingen, a picturesque university town in southwest Germany, at a brocante in Marseille. The town is known for its well-preserved medieval old town, cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and vibrant student population thanks to Eberhard Karls University, one of the oldest in Europe (founded in 1477).
The Neckar River (seen in the engraving) runs through the town. Tübingen has a strong intellectual and cultural history, once home to poets, philosophers, and theologians, and remains a charming blend of academic life and historic beauty.
The piece is titled and signed by the artist.
