You know that transferware is a Joliette favourite and this style took our breath away. This eye catching pattern by Longwy is called "évantails" which translates to "fans". This style of French Chinoiserie (meaning "in the Chinese style") was popular in France from the mid 18th to 19th century. The stamp on these plates dates them from 1882 to 1889!

Note a chip as pictured on one bowl. Also note crazing and some discolouration.  Overall an exceptional set. Sourced from an estate in Marseille. Sold as a set of 6.
