antique french hand painted Fremy Fils et Cie bistro match strike
We have started a new obsession with vintage French porcelain match strikes. These beauties are not easy to come by! Once used to hold matches and light them on the ridges, today use as a jewelry holder, for a candle, or simply as a decorative piece on its own.
This particular advertising match strike, circa 1900s, would have been given by liquor company Fremy Sons & Co. to bistros, restaurants and cafes to promote their brand. A stunning, large piece with gorgeous colours, and a unique history.
It’s rare to come across these hand painted pieces in such beautiful antique condition!
