The Cartuja of Seville, a historic monastery complex in Spain, is renowned for its association with the production of exquisite transferware ceramics. Founded in 1399, the Cartuja was initially a Carthusian monastery that later transformed into a ceramic factory in the 19th century by British national Charles Pickman. The factory gained international recognition for its intricate blue and white transferware pieces, featuring intricate designs often inspired by Spanish and Moorish motifs. These ceramics were highly sought after and exported worldwide, contributing to the factory's reputation as a center of fine porcelain production. Today, the Cartuja of Seville's legacy lives on in its timeless transferware pieces, treasured for their beauty and historical significance.

Note there is a small chip on the front edge as pictured as well as wear to the back edges of the plate.
