This beautifully crafted, exquisitely detailed shell is a salvage piece from an antique French “bénitier” or holy water vessel. This shell piece would have been attached to a decorative back plate and held a small amount of holy water for use by the patrons of the building. We think now it makes a lovely catch all or objet d’art.
