Fives-Lille's majolica began with Antione Gustave De Bruyn, a fourth-generation potter hailing from Belgium. In 1864, he ventured to Fives-Lille, a northern French community, aiming to prosper in the pottery trade. By 1887, art pottery and the increasingly popular majolica were integrated into the company's offerings. Majolica swiftly became the preferred material for crafting humidors, jardinières, vases, and umbrella stands. The company's receipt of a silver medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris underscored its remarkable achievements.
This sweet cache pot was sourced from an estate in Marseille. Use it for keys and change, as a planter, of fill with curiosities.
