Paul Gauguin (1848–1903) was a French Post-Impressionist artist known for his bold use of color, simplified forms, and expressive style. He left behind a career in finance to pursue painting and is best known for his works created in Tahiti, where he sought inspiration in what he saw as a more "primitive" and unspoiled culture. His art often depicts Polynesian people, landscapes, and symbolism, and he had a significant influence on modern art, including artists like Picasso and Matisse.
