A rare piece with a rich story, this antique French ex-voto coeur de marie heart was meant as a beautiful material offering made to god in request of a grace or in thanks for a grace obtained. An ancient symbol of faith and devotion, the Latin words "ex-voto" translate to "according to the vow made." As is common with these Cœur de Marie hearts, it has the initials of the owner engraved on it (“AM”). It has been lovingly preserved, though the previous owner wore it daily (and often held it) as is shown by the way the gold vermeil plating has softly worn down.
With roots in European spiritual tradition, its timeless design makes it a unique and collectible piece; it’s thoughtful construction of gold vermeil plated silver makes it an heirloom treasure to cherish.
