Gaston Chaissac (1910–1964) was a self-taught French painter and writer associated with the Art Brut movement. Known for his bold colors, whimsical figures, and use of found materials, his work blends playfulness with emotional depth.
From June 8 to October 21, 1990, the Association Campredon Art et Culture in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Vaucluse, hosted a retrospective exhibition of Gaston Chaissac's work. The exhibition featured numerous reproductions of his art, providing a comprehensive overview of his creative output. This retrospective was part of a series of exhibitions in the late 1980s and early 1990s that renewed interest in Chaissac's contributions to Art Brut.
