Antique French wax seal with turned wooden handle and solid brass stamp one with engraved an business name and the other with a stunning monogram RP.
The brass and ebonized wood wax seal belonged to Veuve Devaureix — a widowed mill owner operating in Chambon, Creuse, in central France. The oval brass face is engraved with her name, trade, and village, and would have been pressed into hot wax to authenticate her correspondence and business documents. The black turned wood handle is solid and intact.
These are timeless desk accessories for sealing letters, styling on a writing table, or adding to a collection of European curiosities. Sourced from a brocante in Carpentras. Sold individually.
